Hackwell Honey is a third generation apiary. It began in 1959 when Glenn Hackwell finish his phd at Oregon State University in entomology, with his doctorate on honeybees.  He taught classes on beekeeping and ecology for 40 years before retiring from California State University. His son burke took classes in beekeeping, entomology and ecology becoming a science and math teacher. Cooper the youngest son is making this a full time profession spearheading the development and growth of our Ranch. We are a family run ranch/apiary working with Mom, dad and five children and numerous friends working with Honeybees doing our best to promote sustainable farming practices and be selfsufficient. We work hard and long hours becoming exhausted and filthy dirty, but we have some of the best and funniest (sometimes off color)stories & memories that bond us together as a family.
